An attempt to be brief and slightly improve upon the old summary:
Previously divorced homicide detective Angel Batista cares most about his job and his young daughter. Strict principles make Batista a fair cop, but don't preclude his taste for the ladies. He considers himself a close friend of Dexter's and, as a sergeant in the homicide department, is a valuable ally.

" Batista is branching out.I just watched The Savages and there he was, as a carer for an old lady with dementia.He was in it for about 4 minutes and hopefully we'll see more of him on the big screen.
