It's hard enough for Dexter to fake one-on-one relationships. Now he finds himself at the center of a bustling suburban community. When a local vandal begins stirring up trouble, the neighborhood becomes vigilant and wary, two things Dexter certainly doesn't need. His mobility is also hampered by Rita, who insists on driving him around after his incident. Dexter's not the only one feeling trapped - Debra is less than thrilled when Anton announces he's taken a local job to spend more time with her. Meanwhile, the Trinity Killer dispatches his next victim. Debra becomes drawn to Lundy's theories about Trinity, while Dexter finds himself in awe of Trinity's masterful killing technique. Despite their enthusiasm, LaGuerta threatens to shut down the investigation, instead focused on bringing the Vacation Murderers to justice.

The title "Blinded by the Light" is primarily, and more obviously, related to the motion-sensor lights installed in-front of Dexter's neighbor's home, which shine light on Dexter's home as well, as a part of the neighborhood safety watch, a feature which Dexter hates. The title can also be metaphor used for a developing theme throughout the show, too much a good thing is in fact, too much. Deb seems to be blinded to her current and seemingly healthy relationship with Aton by the arrival of Lundy. Quinn's new relationship high seems to be blinding him to the fact that his girlfriend only seems to be interested in the latest news break, and even Dexter himself is blinded to his dark passenger by those closest to him, his family. This episode proved that for some people the light produces more darkness than good.

Quinn's new reporter girlfriend is definitely using him to get the scoop on the "Vacation" murders and the Trinity serial killer.
Quinn has a problem with Dexter. He doesn't trust him.
Deb expresses her need for solitude and commiserates with Dexter over it.
It's not just Jesse who is vandalizing, but his father Andy who is actually doing most of it.
Deb lies to Anton about being at work late.

Harry shows up while Dexter is painting over the graffiti on the front gate of his house. Harry tells Dexter that will be difficult for him to connect with Astor and the kids in general because they're developing more complex emotions and becoming a "whole person- unlike Dexter. He also tells him not to take the suburban life with the wife and kids too seriously b/c it's just a cover.
