If you've been a fan of Dexter since its Showtime beginnings, you'll notice some very obvious (and not so obvious) differences and missing pieces in the new CBS network broadcast. Use this page to compare and contrast the two versions of the show.

Season 1 just wrapped up on CBS. Are you ready for DEXTER Season 2? There are two ways to watch right now:

PLOT/CHARACTER ELEMENTS/QUOTES
HOW SHOWTIME PORTRAYS IT

HOW CBS PORTRAYS IT

Sgt. Doakes knows there's something off about Dexter. He gives Dexter a stern warning:
"I'm watching you mother-f***er".

"I'm watching you mother-lover"
Deb is known for her colorful languange, often interjecting obscenities in everyday speech. "You're f***ing her?"
(Deb suspicious of Dex's rapport with Lt. LaGuerta)
"You're sleeping with her?"
(her back is to the camera, so the voiceover is not apparent)
Dexter keeps a single piece of memorabilia from each of his kills: a blood-stained glass slide. Dexter methodically draws a scalpel across his victim's cheek to obtain a blood sample for his slide collection. The camera cuts away as Dexter presses the scalpel to his victim's cheek. We do not see it slicing the flesh.
Oh...the language, pretty much when Deb opens her mouth a curse word is coming out of it...

Dexter is awesome. Working for the police and getting away with everything her does.
Very uncut, clear, and nasty all over the place, just think of it as an open body spraying blood alover.

Clean, cut out, boring. They made a killer boring.
Stg. Doakes is really tough cop, with a secret past. He is very rough around the edges, and mostly has a foul mouth whenever he is around Dexter.
He's too clean cut, he's not the bad-a** of the show.
when it comes to T.N.A showtimes bares it all thank god
Think of the children!

Cbs is a family network so let it be that. I watch SHO shows because I want real adult entertainment if i want to watch a show about a serial killer. I want to see someone pissed off and killing people and the journey into a tormented mind. Not a fluffy murder mystery show i think there is already plenty of those. The shows being on SHO is what sets them apart and make them so good. Let CBS show reality shows, family comedys, and crime dramas. Keep the real adult entertainment where it belongs!

The only difference I saw was that they voice over the swearing, but they pull that off well enough.
I loved "I'm gonna watch you, motherlover."

I thought this page was supposed to help people watching the CBS version understand what they are missing from the Showtime version. So far, only 3 episodes have aired, and people are writing (nonsensical) comments about season 2, which probably won't even air on CBS. How can you compare how CBS does things if they haven't even aired the particular content people are writing about? I think the last two comments should be deleted, especially the last one. But I don't want to offend the people that posted them...what does everyone think?

skepticbutbelieve Newbies-the veterans are very friendly and a great resource. 10 Mar 7 2008, 5:16 AM EST by mdcoolbaugh

This Sunday is the 3rd episode for us 'newbies', let's not be afraid to ask the 'veterans' for their advice and opinions. I have found them to be very helpful and friendly. But before you ask a question--make sure you are not asking about info already available on the wiki et.al.. We don't want to waste anyone's time or try their patience. The kind of questions should be more about theory or opinion, not facts that are readily available. I have already read some fascinating theories on this wiki that were written by 'vets'. So let's watch on Sunday and see if anyone has any new theories or can add an opinion about existing ones!
