Snapshots of My Sun,
by Tiffany Gemnich

Living in darkness,
while light surrounds me,
pulling me to the bright,
calling me to the heights,
of light.

But the darkness surrounds me,
lives inside of me,
tempts me,
to sadness,
as I wish for gladness.

Could a swan dive,
be my swan song,
when all that was wrong,
becomes eternally gone?

Or, do I watch the lights,
playing in front of me,
tugging at my sleeves,
happiness coming from,
the dance of lights surrounding me,
the people that love me.

Snapshots of my sun.

The Dark Defender
By: Amanda Yoder

When you were growing up
Your dad trained you how not to get caught.
Even as a grown man
You practice what he carefully taught.

You're as calm as a windless field
No matter what kind of stress you endure.
It's a different kind of hobby
But taking a life is especially yours.

The victims you take are deserving of
The fate they suffer at the mercy of your hands.
You are not a spontaneous person
You always make meticulous plans.

Everyday you work your magic
Analyzing the blood someone else left behind.
The Miami PD doesn't realize
This is the last thing on your mind.

You blend in with your surroundings
Putting on a convincing show.
You may let a few people in on your secret
But then you kill those who know.

You inject them with a needle
Using saran wrap, you make them bound.
You know how to cover your tracks
Leaving no evidence to be found.

You take some blood from their cheek
And tell them what they did wrong.
You show them pictures of their victims
Then kill them before too long.

You cut them up to place in bags
Adding rocks so they don't float.
You go on a "fishing trip" with the Slice of Life
Tossing them over the side of your boat.

When you go home that night
You are relaxed, not excited or steaming.
Laying your head on your pillow
You close your eyes, darkly dreaming.

My night palace is a dark abode,
a mortal passage to salvation.
I play the day just as I'm told,
until night's invitation.

Paternal guidance at night sublime,
dead days are simply props.
But night brings life into it's time,
mine starts when their life stops.

Blood tells all in many ways,
my passenger confides.
Those who think crime truly pays,
wind up as blood-splotched slides.

So murder, greed, and godless souls
stray down that darkened trail.
I'll be there when your bell tolls
and we'll see who goes to hell...

TiffanyGEM Ode to Dexter, by Tiffany Gemnich 4 Wednesday, 1:27 AM EST by lemaman

One hour of justice,
and frustrations forgotten.
Minutes of leisure,
under the cotton.
Seconds stand still,
as I watch the game play.
Tick tock my heart,
for an hour today.
High on my mantle,
I hold with esteem,
your swift calculation
superhero of schemes.
With perfection in timing,
though fleeting may be,
one hour of justice
on my bedroom tv.
