| EPISODE 8: "Morning Comes" With both Lila and Debra staying at his apartment Morgan finds himself living with, in his own words, a cobra and a mongoose. After Dexter uses his key to enter her house, Rita tells Dexter that he's no longer welcome to just drop in, even if it's just to see the kids. Having decided that the Bay City Butcher has a background in law enforcement, Special Agent Lundy informs the local officers that all of their old cases will be re-examined by the Feds, but gives Deb the Rodrigo file to examine, explaining that since she wasn't in homocide at the time, it's okay. Deb is pleased by his confidence in her, and accepts Lundy's invitation to dinner the next evening. Dexter is on the defensive and Lundy almost catches him out over one of his cases, that of Rodrigo ("sloppy blood work"). As Dexter helps Lila clean up her loft after the fire, he realizes that something is wrong with her story as to how the fire started. He also comes to realize how dangerous her obsessive behavior can be. Deb and Lundy finally have dinner together, and their friendly bantering turns into something more romantic. After Lila finagles her way into a bowling night out with the guys, Dexter has a close call when his mother's killer decides to pay him a visit in the parking lot. Dexter decides to do what he should have done the first time they met. Sgt. Doakes, suspended for assaulting Dexter, breaks into his apartment looking for evidence and finds a surprise after removing the AC cover. Dexter says that line when he's on his way to kill Jimenez. The way he says it seems like foreshadowing, but I don't know of what - any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the title of this episode is in reference to? I've thought about it in terms as the dawn of a new day, and the dawn of a new Dexter. A Dexter that is going to play by his rules and no one else's....but I want to hear what everyone else thinks.

In the name of all that is awesome in the world, I think this may be my new favorite episode of "Dexter". It was EVERYTHING I'd hoped for. The best part was, Lila's breasts were Missing in Action the entire episode, It's about damn time!
Once again, it seemed Deb spoke for the whole nation with her dis-liking of Lila. The best line of the night was when she called Lila something along the lines of a "British, titty vampire" (or something like that). Things did get a little bit awkward for me when Lundy was with Deb in his apartment. But still, way to go Deb! The whole episode was just full of tension. It was almost too much. Lundy grilling Dexter in the beginning was intense, but I loved it. Lila invading Rita's home was intense, and Dexter having to leave the body there in the wilderness was outrageous! I dont even know if he cleaned it up. It was also CRAZY when it was revealed Lila told that man Dexter was at the Bowling Alley. I didn't know what to do! My favorite part of the episode was when Dexter said he was officially done with Lila. That made the return of the old Dex official (even more so than him murdering his mother's killer). I loved how he threatened to kill her at the end (or at least "Show her the monster". No sexual joke intended). And do I even have to mention Doakes taking Dexter's glass slides? That was the most "Oh no he didn't" moment I've ever seen. I absolutely did not expect the show to go there, but it totally did, and now I'm worried for Dexter's life! I don't know how they did it, but they did, and I officially [heart] Dexter all over again. We only have four more episodes left, and I dont know how Dexter's gonna weasel his way out of this one. But I wanna be with him every step of the way. I hope he gets back with Rita real soon and I hope Harry starts becoming a major character again. Anybody agree/disagree? |
