REMAINS TO BE SEEN
Airdate: October 4, 2009
Directed by: Brian Kurk
Written by: Charles H. Eglee

The pressures of fatherhood threaten to bring Dexter's world crashing down. In his carelessness, Dexter realizes that he's misplaced crucial evidence, something that could expose his dark side to the world. But his search will have to wait, as Miami Metro's two simultaneous murder cases continue to escalate. Their top priority is to solve 'The Vacation Murders', a series of robberies gone bad that threaten Miami's lucrative tourist industry. Lundy, however, remains convinced that the bigger problem is dealing with the Trinity Killer, who unbeknownst to them is already stalking his next victim. Dexter has to weave a web of lies to extract himself from his duties, hoping to bury his secret before someone else finds it first.

  • This title, much like numerous other Dexter episode titles is a double entendre. After Dexter's car crash last episode, he has found himself with a concussion and is unable to remember what he has done with Benny Gomez's "remains" and is afraid they will "be seen" by others if he can't locate them.

Victim(s): Lisa Bell
Assigned officers: Debra Morgan
Crime scene: Lisa Bll is found dead in her bathtub which is full of her blood.
Description of crime:Another victim connected to the Trinity Killer. She had to femoral artery sliced and bled out in her tub.
Suspect(s): Eddie Noonan, the Trinity Killer
Clue(s): Old blood is found under the layer of old tiles. The crime scene is very neat. Similar murder happened 30 years ago in the same exact house and bathtub. Lundy connects the Bell homicide with multiple others with the exact same m.o.
Blood evidence suggests: The crime scene is far too clean and trace-evidence-free for Eddie Noonan, the fumbling train wreck, to have committed the murder (or so Deb and Lundy think - and of course we know they're right).

  • Harry appears before Dexter at the site of his crash the previous night and chastises him for not being able to remember where the body is. He also suggests that all the blame for the incident could fall on Harrison's shoulders.
  • Harry appears before Dexter at the dumpster at the pharmacy and acts as a sort of general antagonist to him.
  • With Harry by his side, Dexter is able to remember his computer password (which, simply enough, is "Harry").
  • As Dexter crawls into the house at night, Harry tells Dexter that he got lucky this time with the whole "Benny Gomez" problem, but he won't be so lucky in the future unless he sets his priorities straight, which according to him is that the "Dark Passenger" must come first.
