I was just a tiny bit disappointed by the finale (SPOILERS obviously).

Just a tiny bit! Don't get me wrong, I liked the finale! But I did have a few minor grievances.

Firstly, I feel they really just dropped the ball with Angel and Lundy. Their characters basically just disappeared the episode. I know Lundy went to Oregon, but Deb (and more importantly the viewer) never got a chance to say goodbye. It just seemed to quick. And with Angel, I really don't know how he could have fit more than what he already did in this last episode, but I would've liked to see some extra scene somewhere.

My biggest problem was with the scene where Dexter killed Lila. It just wasn't satisfying. I hated Lila SO MUCH this season, and in this episode I finally got what I wanted... but I just didn't feel it. I was hoping for one last heart-to-heart between the two before he dispatched of her, but he just said like, two things and killed her. It didn't even seem personal for Dexter. Now granted, he was in Paris and couldn't have done exactly what he does when he kills at home, but I wanted to see Lila suffer before she died, and she really didn't. Her death scene must have last a minute tops. Now LAST seasons final death scene was satisfying. I need some banter before Dexter kills, you know?

I don't know if maybe I just watched it wrong, or what, but I couldn't help but feel a wee bit let down. If I can think of a more eloquent way to put it, I will, but surely someone out there on this wiki agrees with me right?

ps- I was also very let down that Dexter didn't take a slide of Lila's blood. It could have been number one in his new slide collection! Now when season three starts, the things gonna be half full already and we won't have any clue where they came from. (It makes me feel like a nerd to complain about that, but there it is).

Some see the slide collection as half empty, others half full.

Sorry, Couldn't help myself.

And yes I agree.

I loathed the death of Doakes. I mean, what will the writers do for entertainment in Season 3? It will all be Masuka & Dex now...

PS ~ I had even hoped that maybe (despite rumours) he would survive. No such luck. I guess.

Yes we started a thread and whenever a new thread starts and the words Deb and Lundy are uttered in the same sentence I will do what I can to show up and say "WE WANT LUNDY BACK"!
As for zizzy. your words about the whole Lundy situation and Deb are absolutely correct and I couldn't agree more.
We see no sort of ending and if in the next season Lundy is just a name and ends with "Dead" I will quit this show like a bad habit.
The whole Deb/Lundy relationship actually made me sit and watch through episodes of this season and not like last season where I just got the highlights and thought, good show I wonder what else is on.

Yeah that was the part i found most disappointing he got whacked at the first 5 mins, really wanted a big final confrontation with him and Dexter. Lila's death was okay but seemed a bit rushed i thought he was going to throw her off the balcony, plus he used a different drug so she didn't really feel it as much as the other victims.

Agree with you and ARayne; that's why I think Lundy has got to be back at least part of next season for some sort of day of reckoning with Dexter...

I have to agree with Zizzy about Lila's death. It was too quick and too much an afterthought. There were many flaws - first, he was out of his kill zone, where he has no contact within the police force. He couldn't take a slide because there's no way to get that through customs.

I just really wanted the chat on the table with Lila - she got off easy. I do wonder about the body bag, though - what was that about? Why bother? Did he bring that on the plane with him? Does he think they can't trace his connection to Lila? How did he find her?

I bet he could've hid the slide in his shoe. Some how he got the epidural to France, surely he could've his a slide in his shoe.

As for the bag, it really was purposeless, other than Dexter is compulsively neat, so perhaps he didn't want blood all over the carpet. Also, if the bad was all zipped up like that, it'd take longer for someone outside the room to notice the smell of a rotting corpse.

I think they left the door open for Lundy to return. Maybe Debra will join the FBI, in her continuing quest to do everything Daddy does.

I was disappointed in the finale as well. Too neat, too clean, too convenient. As much as I hate Lila, I thought she would have made a great stress point for Season 3 -- always there on the edges, waiting to pounce! I thought perhaps her killing was a dream.

And everyone falling for Doakes as the Bay Harbor Butcher? Come one, even the MIami cops are better than that! Nothing in Doakes' personality or background suggests the precision and obsessive-compulsiveness of the BHB.

All in all, much too neat and clean. The only 2 people in the world who know Dexter's secret are gone -- how convenient for the writers to have wiped out all loose ends.

Maybe Lundy will figure out Doakes is no BHB and return to find the real killer.

I was glad Dexter didn't cut Lila up - he F!@#cked her for crying out loud. And she did look quite surprised to see him - she thought she had gotten away with murder. Dead is dead.... 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

the writers do things for dramatic purposes....they thought having lila APPEAR to get away with it...at the very last second of the last episode after a blank grey moment where you think this is the end of the show...suddenly NOT getting away with it...would be more "pow" than chatting for five minutes. those who really WANT the moment to include more terror, begging, and faux repentance from lila are disappointed, of course.

the writers also skew the dialogue to suit their purposes...when dexter, in bed with rita, jests to himself "yes, i turned out to have more time....20 to life, in fact." one imagines that his sentence would have been for multiple life terms rather than 20 to life for this many victims, but whatever.

deb gets "have a nice (airplane) flight...on your broom" put into her mouth by the writers because it sounds witty even though lila has JUST said "i got some road food for the road trip"...by car, one supposes.

i was disappointed by the finale because there were too many spoilers on the site from all those who'd seen the internet leaked version, and all the bubbles went flat a week in advance.

kinda ruined the anticipation and excitement for moi.

New ritual perhaps? Just had to say it.....hopefully not....the old ritual was good. Actually in a sick way (and the intent of the show I am sure) is that even though she was evil, you could have felt sorry for her when she was all excited about the future prospects with Dex and let her guard down and you knew what was coming for her....so quick was good..... 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Quick was good--the planning and execution of it in Paris was somewhat jarring and facile...IMHO

I agree, just a teensy bit disappointed. I thought the entire episode was great until he suddenly shows up in Paris and kills Lila--without any explanation whatsoever as to how he found her there. It seems too easy and a little cheap to have him just show up and kill her. I don't believe that he was able to find her, and also able to easily slip away from Miami. No explanations are provided. For such a complex and sophisticated series, I thought this was a little too thin. Left me feeling unsatisfied. They could have just as easily had him deal with Lila in season 3. Maybe we'll find out it was just a dream or fantasy. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

That is a very good way to put it. I however wouldn't have wanted the Lila thing carried over to season three. I think the writers are trying to start fresh next season. I'm glad she died, but the scene could've been more dramatic and satisfying to me.
