not knowing Dexter is adopted
Feb 24 2008, 10:37 PM EST
I noticed when one of the cops finds out that Deb is the one who found the Ice Truck he comments that Deb and Dex being Harry Morgan's kids and good cops that "it must be in the genes". So it seems like it's not common knowledge on the force that Dex was adopted.

My dad isn't my biological father but my work ethics and many of my views on life are the same as the my dad who raised me. 0 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

I understand what you're saying (my Aunt is adopted, but people in the family forget all the time b/c it doesn't matter, and do things like compare hair and eye color).Knowing that the Captain knew that Dex was adopted, I think it was an odd word/phrase choice on the writers part to have him make the comment about being in the genes. It would have made more sense for him to have made a similar comment but just say something to the effect that: "you can tell Harry taught them well" or something similar. What do you think? 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

yeah i do agree that the wording should have been changed. it does make it sound like he doesnt know, but at the same time, we already know that LaGuerta knew he was adopted. The scene in the bathroom when she is thinking about adopting the little Cuban boy and talkin to Deb shows she already knew.

I don't think I've seen that yet (bathroom scene), what episode was that in? One of the things I like about the show is that the character development/back-history is so thorough and detailed. But at the same time, I think I would have to watch each episode several times to catch all the details. (Not that I'd mind that at all!) With each new episode I find myself drawn farther and farther in, getting to know all the characters etc..

I would really appreciate it. I don't want to sound to obsessed about it all, but the show kind of does that to you.:) 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
