"It is more than that though. Last season Dex became disenchanted with Harry after he found out things.Yep-exactly. Dex is starting to see he needs to grow up-so to speak, but also, he needs his independence, I guess that involves the code as well. Do you find this valuable? |

"I disagree here. I think the attemopt to stray from the code reinforced how solid the code is, and how necessary. Case in point...Miguel Prado"yes, that is true, but after a lot of the things Dex has found out about Harry, he needs a to make it his own. Kind of like keeping the same recipie, but adding new and interesting ingredients to change the flavor. If it works, great, if not, make another batch and try, try again. Do you find this valuable? |

"Isn't that the truth?! I don't think we would have a prison system if they let Dex do what he does so well. I'm telling you, I'm sure the police depts. would love to have him work for them. Actually, that would be a good idea. Let Dexter start a class to teach all of these serial killers out there the code of Harry. Then turn them loose as the police dept. We could get rid of a lot of lawyers that way, too. I'm sure it would take care of the national debt!"I have long since thought that it would be a good idea to take pedophile and other heinous criminals to an island and give hunters a free reign. Let the island be surrounded by man eating sharks and have native feral hogs and let nature dispose of the remains. Or a hostel of sorts, if you know what I mean. Buy your favorite criminal and be allowed to inflict the torture of your choice. Do you find this valuable? |

"really, because I thought when I watched the last episode, Dexter was paying a lot of attention after he saw what Miguel had become. I think he knows that Harry was right about things. Dexter is acting out as a stubborn child (kind of like Miguel, but not as strongly), and I think he knows that maybe he should'nt have zigged, when he should have zagged."I agree. Dexter has been rebelling against Harry ever since he realized in season 1 that his biological father was alive and Harry had lied about that to him for all of his life. From that point on Harry was no longer this beacon of truth and his stead fast rock that he could count on 100%. But like he said to Miguel, the code is what keeps his dark side in check. So he knows to trust it, but he also is allowing himself to modify it slightly. Now that he sees the monster that HE has created in Miguel, after he peels away every inch of flesh from his body, he will make amends with Harry and slow down with his modifications of the code, or at least consult with Harry to get a second opinion. He is seeing in Miguel what perhaps Harry saw in him when he walked in on him and actually saw him do the deed. You think Dex is gonna skin him, huh? That would be an evolution from how he kills now, although he has been changing that up a bit this season. I would still like to see him dump a body at least once. He has been betrayed every time he has let somebody see his dark passenger. You would think that he would have learned by now not to show it to anyone. But, I guess like everyone else in this world, he keeps trying! Do you find this valuable? |

Another 'feeling' that Dexter may have been refering at the end of the episode, besides betrayal, is revenge. And it may be so strong that he will resort to a more vengeful way to kill Miguel. (And to think, I was one of those who gave their 'friendship' my stamp of approval.) I wonder if the code said to do the deep quickly. But I think it would be very theraputic for Dex if he thought about every betrayal and lie of Miguel as Miguel strips for him. (lol) Dex will get it out of his system and then be able to go back to being 'normal' Dexter. Though I hope, for his sake, that he does become more 'human' and can experience some of the same emotions as most other people. It is not his fault he is the way he is. Do you find this valuable? |

It is not his fault he is the way he is.Why did you approve of their friendship? Didn't you think it was gonna come back to bite him in the butt? I haven't trusted Miguel from the beginning. But, then again I have made stupid mistakes with trusting someone that I shouldn't have, so who am I to say! I think the revenge mode is kicking in right now. I think Dex is upset because Miguel is playing the game a little better than Dex right now (or so he thinks!) I don't know if the code specified to do the deed quickly or not. I think Dex has to see the blood which stems back from all of the blood when his mother got killed. But he strangled the pedophile, didn't he? That was more of a revenge killing, actually, for messing with his family. I'm with you, I want to see Dex take his revenge. Sweet revenge. Becoming more human? Is it really worth it? Sometimes feeling all of the emotions that we feel is detrimental to our health. lol! So, maybe he is the smart one. All I know is right now I'm going around the house singing camptown races, and the ice cream man has it playing on his truck as well. DOO DAH!!! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

But, then again I have made stupid mistakes with trusting someone that I shouldn't have, so who am I to say! After Miguel apparently covered up Freebo's death by not exposing it, I figured he was probably not walking the straight and narrow. I felt that he was really sincere about killing, but I was not sure if he was sincere about why he wanted to kill or about his freindship with Dexter. That is why I kept mentioning about Dexter needing to do a DNA test on the shirt. (Which really surprised me that he didn't. But to make the show work, he couldn't.) Dexter seemed so happy to have a friend, I guess I wanted to believe it also, for his sake. But I was still a little apprehensive of Miguel's friendship. (Gotta run out quick. The cows are calling. I'll finish my thought later. Sorry.) Do you find this valuable? |

"Does Dexter ever have the urge to go "outside" the code.Yes, of course Dexter has the urge to kill outside the Code of Harry. Every day. So many people. The Dark Passenger has a blood lust that does not discriminate between innocent and guilty, deserving and undeserving. Especially when the moon is full. Dexter is in a sense two people--the happy-go-lucky, smart, funny blood technician with a 9-to-5 job, a fiancée, and am apparently normal life--and--the Dark Passenger, a monster who thrives on death and the ritualistic torture and killing of humans. The Code of Harry keeps the Dark Passenger in check. But the urge is always there, and the Dark Passenger never wholly absent. If Dex would stop feeding the Dark Passenger with victims of his own brand of vigilante justice, his inner monster would probably escape his control. This is why Dex does not think he is human--he enjoys killing people. It's not only his hobby, its his avocation. So yes, death walks as his daily companion, and not much is required to move someone from the "innocent, do not touch" column to the "they deserve it" column. In a sense, Dex is happy that Miguel deserves a visit from the Dark Passenger. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
