"Predicting IS fun! I think that we will see a bit more of Deb probing into her brother's intimate knowledge of the darker side of life, definitely some comic relief from Rita's hormonal surges, LaQuarta needing to seek her teeth into something big, and beginning to suspect Dexter again, and Dexter dealing with the realities of married life/fatherhood. Seems like a long time to wait until next fall.....!"Hi, Darlin, I am glad you are back here in Dexter.... I have missed you. Are you feeling better now? Any way, Do you think Deb will be featured more this season because she is Mrs Michael C Hall now, and she will get better parts as his real life wife? or Do you think she/her character needs expanding? I still think Lundy will show up agian if not physically at least in mention as an interest of hers. I seemed to be an important event for her to have had Lundy as a mentor. She really sort of blossomed while Lundy was her influence. I dont think has ever really been appreciated or understood. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"(Book spoiler alert) Dexter will discover Astor and Cody may have a Dark Passenger. I'm guessing as this happens is the third book, Dexter in the dark."This show is not about the books. It is a TV program, that was based on the character of Dexter. As I understand it the shows do not follow the books at all or at least very very loosely. The books do not seem to be relevant in regards to discussion about this program. As I understand it also there are only two or three books so a forth is not even available for discussion. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Honestly, the Astor - Cody serial killer option would be tragic. Good grief. Serial killer children. That's just repugnant. Count me out if this is the way it turns. I read the first Dexter book. My impression was that the author was writing gratuitously for sickos. Violent, serial killer pornography. There was no redeeming quality, conclusion, anything. I will not read another Dexter book. The only reason the TV show works is because Dexter has a code. This code appeals to the vigilante in all of us. Dexter works because he interjects justice when the legal system fails. But if he were just killing to kill, then the show might as well be about Richard Ramirez."I agree with you completely. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

That is one of the dilemmas with book adaptations. Knowing what is coming is a bummer. OTOH, the comparisons between screenplay and your imagination usually cause disappointment with the televisual presentation. So far (I have not read the books) the show is da bomb so I'm all in. Deb's potential pre-eminence based on her real-life situation IS a tad bothersome, to me. Despite her central role, she is far from my favorite supporting character (but still above Rita...) As JWN indicated, Lundy (damn, that Mr. Carridine is one fine actor) and Deb added another dimension to the show that really created tension for Dex (and us!). The archetypal battle of the titans as the brainpower of Dex vs Lundy was real fodder for the writer's grist mill. Lundy coming back in for a while would be a-okay by me. Do you find this valuable? |

The producers should spend the money and bring a great actor back in to play. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Totally agree with you. This is a TV show and an excellent one with a great script and phenomenal actors. This combined creativity is what keeps loyal Dexter lovers coming back each year to view the upcoming season. Never get bored re-watching all the previous Seasons. Never read the books. Do not want to, just in case the books would take away the twisted plot elements of the show which would definitely be a giveaway plot breaker. Am collecting each Season as they come out on DVD. Season 3 is on it's way. More power to "Dexter" TV!

Wow! You mentioned "Burn Notice." One of my favorite shows-next week is the Season Finale. Bummer! Don't think Dexter will be moving up as they did with Burn Notice. If my memory is right, Dex always starts mid or the 3rd week of September. 12 episodes that provide the viewer with great scripts and acting. Bet that the creators/writers of the show are already preparing for Season 5 not just Season 4.

So creative. So Spielberg! It is on Sunday nights on Showtime. They also play a lot of this first seasons reruns during the week, so you can catch up easily on the characters. Just like with Dexter. During the season,. I watch the same Dexter four times each week! I have decided to get a job so I may not have that luxury this season. lol Do you find this valuable? |

Hey, we're on a Dexter sight, I think we all have a bit of darkness in us, don't you? I kinda like the name though. ; ) Do you find this valuable? |

I heard the 3rd book is pretty unrealistic as it refers to the dark passenger as some kind of super power or something to that effect. Although I am an extremely loyal Dexter fan, I seriously hope that season 4 is more along the lines of season 2. I would really like to see Lundy come back though. I think there is a lot of unfinished business with both Dex & Deb there. We kinda know that Deb is gonna be checking into the past, so she will have more of a roll this year. I want to know who Dexter's new nemesis will be. Perhaps Deb? Do you find this valuable? |

Once you get that Ring on the finger then you do not have to be the one that was dated. They always change, and come out different.. I tell you if Deb comes after Dex then there will be a divorce... 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Miguel vs Dex was a classic mano y mano testosterone-laced slug-fest with our man coming out on top (literally as well as figuratively...;-). Miguel made a serious mistake in not striking at Dex's soft underbelly.....Rita and the kids!!In the coming season, I expect at least one incidence of Dex's paternal instincts coming to the fore and protecting his "cover" for more reasons than just their usefulness at deflecting suspicion. I truly believe in season four we will see Deb discovering Dexter's secret. I don't know if I like that idea or not, but I feel strongly that is the direction the show is heading. Almost formulaic, every season we see Dexter making a real connection with someone but then having to kill them. I think the only thing that can be dramatically gratifying is for somebody to discover his secret and accept it. I'm sure most people would agree if any character could do that, it would be Deb.

Okay, Zizzy, except I thought the premise of the show was a serial killer living a quasia normal life. I don't quite see how his sister knowing will work in that premise. Maybe she could suspect someone else close to Dex or see a distant connection but not know how that thread connects to anything else, but I don't see Deb finding out this season. You are more observant than I am, so you may be right. Just two different opinions. Actually, in a nut shell, this show is about opinions.

In episodic, as well as sequential storylines, a step taken in one direction is hard to reverse unless there is some sort of satisfactory resolution or unseen intention. (ie Deb dies after finding out or she has SK genes too and joins Dex in the hunt...)The lame Dallas "it was all a dream" fiasco would never even occur to the fine stable of contributors that makes Dexter what it is. The most sensitive and introspective appreciation of our darkest recesses yet offered to the viewing public. Lets look at the "other" possible storyline developments that would not include Deb (or any other central character) finding out about the dark passenger's itinerary. Suspension of disbelief is one thing but being able to wring every last throbbing instant out of the tension associated with Dex's peregrinations is this show's speciality. Show us wotcha got! She has already had to experience those things being engaged to a serial killer, let alone having one for a brother. She is such the cop and so into doing what she thinks is the right thing for law, order & justice and her emotions are so much in your face & on the surface. What would be even worse is finding out what Harry & Dex were doing on their little outings when she & Dex were growing up. She would be facing betrayal from everyone she has ever loved, trusted & considered family. What do you think that would do to her psyche? I doubt that anyone could take that much in & accept it, let alone Deb. Although she seems tough on the outside, it is a facade for the most part. I think she's half jelled jello on the inside. That everyone she ever loved was a lie to her, she may commit suicide. Did you guys see the "what if " sequence of Deb finding out as seen by Dexters imagination? It was too funny. The ones where he tells her and she reacts differently? I loved the one where he tells her and she jumps up pulls out her gun and starts firing it into Dex. lolol BTW All of you on this thread are using your grey matter.
