I think deb uses the F word to often.i think it would be more effective if used less.

Like "Deadwood", "Sopranos" and other gritty presentations, one has only to wander out of "polite" society to see the dark underbelly of the lexicon.Suffice it to say that it helps to establish her character and would make the role more "unrealistic" to my mind. Were she to say to Dex something like "I love you, you co*#ksu*#cker!" now THAT would be too much and it would take away from the intent of showing that under her crusty exterior lies a heart of gold...

Don't get me wrong,.it is one of the only words that can invasive things when nothing else works.I use it myself. it just seems to be a little to often for Deb, making it less effective.

Gotcha. To identify with a character, we like to "seem" like them.

When she uses the "potty" mouth, I too find it a bit incongruous but understandable in the sense that she wants to appear hard-bitten and tough. Or perhaps she is just crude? She has exhibited a relatively free-spirit in certain episodes. MAYBE she will turn over a new leaf...
