"Which character do you think is more iconic: David Fisher from Six Feet Under or Dexter Morgan from Dexter? Which character did Michael C. Hall play most convincingly? Which character do you like better?"Definitely Dexter! I can't even remember the character's name in Six Feet Under if you had not mention it in your question. I think Michael C. Hall's image (with the silly smile and blood spattered face) is proof enough that Dexter is the more iconic one. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Which character do you think is more iconic: David Fisher from Six Feet Under or Dexter Morgan from Dexter? Which character did Michael C. Hall play most convincingly? Which character do you like better?"Faithfully watched Six Feet Under. To me, Michael C. Hall is the consummate actor. His grasping of both Fisher and Dexter was excellent. As we know now, He will always be remembered for his portrayal of Dexter. I say he has convincingly embraced Dexter Morgan as his own alter ego. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Never watched Six Feet Under, so my answer would have to be ....tada! Dexter! Dexter Morgan! lol"Six Feet Under was a great show. Ended on a positive note. But Michael C. Hall has now been dexterated and will be remembered as Dexter Morgan, SK, Dark Avenger. Think there are more fans of the Dexter show than there was of Six Feet Under. SFU had a great ensemble cast. But Dexter is here to stay. And Dex is definitely the main character but with another great ensemble cast. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I have talked with a bunch of people that have HBO, and they know of 6 ft Under and do not know anyting of Dexter. Plus Dexter is much more gruesome than 6 feet under. 6 Feet under is more about a gay thing. While Dexter is a whole different thing. You would be surprised how many people are not into the Dexter movement. I feel it is much much more to do with having HBO vs Having Showtime. Do you find this valuable? |

I got to see it on HBO first and absolutely loved it. I was bummed when it ended. And by the gay thing, do you say that because his character was gay? I thought there was a lot more to David Fisher than just being gay. He was excellent in that role. I think, and we've gone down this road many times before, that a lot of people won't even try to get into Dexter when you tell them the premise of the show. Dexter is most obviously, to me anyway, to be more iconic. I can't see anyone besides MCH in that role. Plus, even though he has an ensemble cast, he is the star. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Dexter doesn't directly depict as much gore, IMHO. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

All the way through, I saw the writers or creater, or Director I am not sure which one but in the interview they mentioned the fact that they were putting that aspect out there. You have to admit that David Fisher was or acted very gay in that show. He was so convincing that I was surprised to see him play a heterosexual man in Dexter. He played it so well. I personally do not care one way or another. (at least for the most part my concerns will not be addressed here) But I saw more of that activity on that show that anyother show I have ever seen. It is not my life style, and I do not think I would or could ever have that type of relationship. But SFU was very much oriented that way. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

He played it so well.Alan Ball (creater, writer and EP of SFU) is gay himself; so are several of the other production staff. And yes, I think it was always inevitable that there would be a lead gay character in there. However I don't think David is "very gay" - he's certainly not stereotypically gay, not in the way mainstream TV usually depicts it. He can be quite emotional and prissy, but neither of those traits are confined to gay men. And really, he's mostly like that when he's with Keith. and other gay men. With the professsional front he puts on at work, and even to his family to some extent, it's not immediately obvious that he's gay. Back to the original queston, though. The definition of "icon" is: 2. An important and enduring symbol 3. One who is the object of great attention and devotion; an idol. On that basis, I have to say Dexter. That character is certainly the more enduring symbol, especially since there's a fantastical superhero element to him. And he would have the bigger following, since he's undoubtedly the star of the show. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well he did it so well I would have not been surprised that he was in real life. He did a great job. In fact compareing the two after Dexter started made me a hugh fan of David Fisher and of Dexter. Seeing how ell he acted in the one meant he would do a great job in this. Oh Yes Definately Dexter at this point in time. He is so much more Iconic. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Which character do you think is more iconic: David Fisher from Six Feet Under or Dexter Morgan from Dexter? Which character did Michael C. Hall play most convincingly? Which character do you like better?"This is an interesting question, as the two characters show Michael C. Hall at a different stage of his career development. Dexter is more compelling, more edgy, more interesting. But David Fisher is convincing as a gay, neurotic funeral director. The two roles are not completely unrelated--they both deal with death arrangements, both characters have difficulty connecting with their emotions and with others, both are control freaks, both are compulsively neat, and both are hot (although I would rather that David Fisher do me rather than Dexter, as there is less finality in David Fisher's encounters). In the Dexter role Michael C. Hall is more athletic--beefcake to David Fisher's cupcake--but here we see a more mature actor who has developed the physicality demanded by the part. I can see the two characters morphing into each other--David Fisher becoming a serial killer hunting homophobes or Dexter opening a funeral parlor and settling down. If the two characters could meet one another, I think they could become friends, perhaps even partners in crime, in a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde sort of way with David Fisher helping to dispose of Dexter's handiwork. The biggest difference between the two is that Dexter is happy-go-lucky, unless this is just part of his disguise following Harry's plan to act normal and fit in. Given the inner turmoil that Dexter experiences from me, the Dark Passenger, this may well be the case, although since Dexter does not ask much of life (apart from not wanting to get caught) and enjoys his work, he could be both happy and troubled. Of course Dexter is a monster--he breaks society's biggest taboo regularly, whereas David Fisher only breaks a lesser taboo. To answer your 2nd question, Dexter. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Six Feet Under was about so much more than just a "gay thing"! I'm not even sure what that means?!? Yes, his character was gay - but if you actually watched the show, you would learn that there is so much more going on that just that one little fact.
