"Thats been the code for all seasons past, so I'm wondering if the writers will start this year again... It seems to be an easy way for Dex to get away with what he's been doing, seeings that it's how he's gotten away with what he does for the last three years. I cant see any way of writing in the children as "his suscessors, any time soon. Although I dont like that senerio, no matter how much all the critics seem to think thats the way it's going to happen, I just dont see it happening. I love the surprize of the whole coming season. I love to speculate and I love to hear from all of the supporters of the show. Bring it on!!"Yes, their having another serial killer, I read it on the news, and just replied to a message just like this, and really dont feel like saying everything again. But I am just hoping that they dont do the same thing they have been doing. "Someone befriends Dexter, they find out his secret, turns out their a serial killer too, but they dont rat Dexter out. Dexter ends up killing them." They need to mix it up a little bit, but hopefully they will in this new season. Do you find this valuable? |

"The previous seasons have always had new serial killers. My favorite was Season 1, Ice Truck Killer and Season 2, Bay Harbor Butcher. Season 3's serial killer was uneventful to me. In Season 3, enjoyed the development of the relationship between ADA Miguel and Dexter.Well said, I believe the same thing. They do the same thing for every season. Where Dexter befriends someone and they end up being a serial killer, but dont turn Dex in, but he kills them anyway. I think it would be interesting to have a female killer. But thats not gonna happen in season 4, hopefully in season 5 though :D Do you find this valuable? |

"Although at this point its a predictable plot that the emphasis will be Deb finding out more about Dex, I would imagine it will open up plenty of room for twists and changes. I couldn't really see Deb turning Dex in to the authorities (especially with a new wife and baby), but it would be great to see Deb as the antagonist for season 4. Their relationship is set up that they heavily influence each other, but at the end of the day they both are very independent characters. (on a side note, with their off-cam relationship and Hall being ax executive producer, it would seem logical that Jennifer will get more attention on screen in the future). You would be surprised at just how many serial killers there are out there. Do a bit of research...I have and it is not pretty! Do you find this valuable? |

Of course they are out there and many people could probably name some right now, but I'm speaking generally, American serial killing is a white mans game. All the "classic" serial killers all fit the same profile as Dexter- white, mid-thirties (or up), likable but disconnected from their emotions. It's a phenomenon to be sure, but that's generally type of person that you'd find serial killing. There are exceptions to the rule of course (many people will remember the DC Sniper, and even the identity of the Bay Harbor Butcher is suppose to be a black man). The show sort of flirted with the idea of a female serial killer in season two with Lila, and I'd be afraid if there were another female killer on the show, it would suddenly turn into Dexter having sex with her again, an aspect of which I personally didn't like in season two. We know that Dexter is a serial killer that kills other serial killers and a few other bad guys like pedophiles. I would hope this season with the addition of Lithgow with a decade’s old history of being a serial killer that the writers will take a different plot line this season. I think they will. I think S4 will be very good with the baby there, Lithgow, and several new characters too.

But having a female killer is something new, and that's what people like, is new things. I mean, if in every season it was the serial killer was a killer that fit those standards (with the exception of killing they're victims in a unique and fascinating way), people would get bored with it eventually. And i seriously hope that doesn't happen because Dexter is a good show, and I hope they continue to do a good job with the series and books. Do you find this valuable? |

The last thing the writers need to do is follow the same recipe that it had followed. Season 3 was a mix it up season in which they add too much and it was too difficult to follow all of the little stories that were added. Yes a female SK would be different, but it looks like they will go with Lithgow this season unless he is in drag I do not thin k they will go with a female SK this season. But if they are reading what we write then there is a chnace for the following season. After all it is a process. Do you find this valuable? |

More opportunity and reward, less deep seated reasons. This couod work well or badly on the show. Do you find this valuable? |

You see we are all feeling the need yes we need more Dexter. I think it is not fair to only have Dexter for such a short season and to have to wait until the winter (or at least the Fall) for him to be available for us. It is not like Burn Notice that have shows or Seasons starting every 6 months. If that were to be the case I would go insain. I need both of them in my life. Now that the New season of Burn Notice is going I am a very happy camper. But If you say the D word then I do not think you really want to be responsible for what will happen after that.. So say it but with caution and full knowlege that it may lead to the end of time as we know it...... Do you find this valuable? |

Technically, Rita could become a serial killer. She has the correct formula.1) Female 2) mid thirties to forties 3) has had bad relationships involving; 3a) abuse (Paul) 3b) neglect (Her mother) 4) is well liked by her peers She fits. The same goes with Debra (Dexter's sister).. 1) Female 2) Mid Thirties to forties 3) abuse (Rudy) 4) Neglect (Her father) 5) Well liked by her peers She too fits. Though, some female killers we known to moonlight as prostitutes or escorts. It provides them with names, and identities of people doing something wrong. Not to mention an easy target with their guard down. Possibly Batista's new girlfriend? As for a therapist, Dexter's already killed one. The therapist who was getting stressed women addicted to anti-depressants and then refusing to refill their prescription. Then, he described a way for them to kill themselves and not lose respect. So, a therapist is out of the question. Same goes with car salesmen. As for a cat and mouse game with Serial Killers, we've gone through that with Dexter and Rudy. Not saying that I wouldn't mind it again, I'd prefer the whole "I'm sad to kill you because we're so similar moment" out of the episode. He was suppose to remain without emotion, yet he sobs for the guy who nearly killed his step-sister. Choose a side. As long as the killer is actually smart and not a seducer. Rudy (Brian) was a seducer, and Miguel was as well. He tried seducing Maria, and even tried wooing (Not sexually) Dexter. He played on Dexter's lack of emotion. Maybe a good actor with a medium build, not much muscle. We need someone who's good at playing that sort of character... How about Billy Zane? He's decent at playing an emotionless person who will kill you laughing or bend you to his will. Do you find this valuable? |

Deb does eventually find out that Dex is a serial killer in the books, but she never killed anyone. And for the Batista serial killer thing, I think they shouldn't make another cop or "Law-involved" serial killer because then it would look like they are running out of ideas. In response to Dexters Spawn, I don't see Deb as a serial killer. Rita has some kind of secret background, we know that, but we don't know exactly what is is yet except for she's hiding the fact of her 1st hubby. And although I already know who the next serial killer is....Billy Zane would be great! Do you find this valuable? |

"Technically, Rita could become a serial killer. She has the correct formula.Hey, Good post. But I have to say that I am not sure Deb was neglected exactly, (I know I will take heat on this one) But she was loved by her Dad but treated like a boy. Yes Harry was more involved with Dexter. We know why. But If She was realy neglected by Harry I do not think she would be so atteched to Harry and so devoted to him. After all is said and done. For the sake of time in the show, we never see them (the stars) fix meals and we never see them really work out, We all know they use the bathroom for all of its intended purposes, But we all know they do it, and use them. So I am saying that Harry and Deb had a very good relationship. She loved Harry, and it shows. She does not really say bad things about him ever. So there is something there. As an observation, we know the relationship with Rita and Gail. But we never saw the incidents that caused the frayed relationship. So we know Gail was not the Mother of the Year. but Deb thought the world of Harry. So I do not think she would be an SK. I do not think we need Rita to become one. That relationship has to grow in a different direction right now. But Gail could develop into one, and that would be a sleeper, she could go between Michigan and Florida and do her killing. It would be a good way to introduce a Female SK into the show. We do not really know much about her other than she is a very bitter woman. Do you find this valuable? |

Maybe as a one off, but, now she over compensates for that by being so calculatingly nice? It could work! Did any of you see the movie Secretary? It ended with the major s&M couple living in mainstream USA with all appearances of being normal, yet sickly perverse. MAybe the show will head that w3ay? Even at the end of Natural Born Killers, the couple were off in an RV with a pack of kids having left their blatant lives as killers behind them. I don't see Deb as a kille,r as she pursues justice so vehmentantly, but, Rita just...might! Do you find this valuable? |
