80. RE: Do you think they're going to create a new serial killer for Seaso
Jun 11 2009, 9:11 PM EDT
The problem I have isn't directly with Lithgow, but the long time he spent in comedy.THe long duration he's spent away from thrillers causes doubt, as he may have forgotten how to truly portray a person who's psychotic and is running from the law. I'm ordering Raising Cain with Netflix so I can watch it, to see how good/bad he was. I know many have problems with "inconsistencies" portrayed by Lithgow, I don't care. As for Deb, it's time for a meltdown. She'll ponder which man to go for, as that's her way of dealing with things, and obviously Dexter will help to get her to choose Mr. Right. (THis is a guess) As for a 3-way or love triangle, I doubt it. She usually dumps one and goes for the other, or gets dumped and gets another. As for Deb just dumping Anton, I doubt that. She would be more offended by being dumped for someone's job, than some illegal substances being hidden in the apartment. Maybe if she finds Anton cheating on her. As for Lithgow taking Dexter's kids, I think Rita will still be pregnant. So, maybe he'll take 4 for a kind of blooper. As there's a kid in her, and her two kids. Hopefully Lithgow remembers how to pull off a sociopath, and doesn't come off like Brian Moser did. That was annoying. I know they were brothers and all (Dexter & Brian) but the guy tried to kill your sister, and he kidnapped her, not to mention stabbing your friend. He even broke into your apartment, and threw a head at you. NO crying! Do you find this valuable? |

"I really hope she doesnt have the kid, it will ruin the show, and I'll probably stop watching"Hate to rain on yours and Dexter's_spawn's parade, but Showtime said Rita will have already given birth to the baby when season four kicks off. There's no way around it now. Do you think you'd really stop watching because of it? I disagree with it too, and if I ran the show I don't think I'd have a baby come at all, but I'm gonna keep watching as long as they keep making them. Do you find this valuable? |

"The problem I have isn't directly with Lithgow, but the long time he spent in comedy.I think it's still a possibility that Deb will see what's behind Door number 3. Lundy shows up (I love that guy), and Deb must choose between him and Anton (I hate that guy). Although she may choose one initially, I can see her eventually going for Quinn still. John Lithgow is a classically trained thespian. He's done comedy recently, but he's done all sorts of stage plays and the like, flexing his acting chops. He's not going to forget how to act. Did you ever see "One Hour Photo"? Robbin Williams was creepy as hell in that movie, but he is always in comedies. As for complaints about Brian in season one, I'm just too stubborn to admit to any faults in that season. I love it too much. I liked the exchange between the two brothers on Brian's death-table. "I hope there isn't a lot surrounding Deb searching through files discovering herself through her fathers faults. "She won't be discovering herself, she'll be discovering Dexter, or at least some of him. The other good thing about this storyline is that it gives Deb something to do which isn't about her love life. Sure, they'll probably be some Lundy/Anton indecision, but there's no reason it will have to take up the whole season. And, more importantly, having Deb searching the files etc will give her a storyline that is connected to Dexter and his fate. The problem I had with season 3 was a lot of the stuff that was happening - such as Deb and Anton, the Quinn/IA thing, Ellen and Maria - wasn't connected to Dexter, while in season 2, virtually everything was. That's why season 2 was a lot more interesting for me. Do you find this valuable? |

"Not a problem. Here it is:Well that kinda sucks, you didn't even get to see Dexters reaction when he first held his son? I don't know though, they could have changed it, they didn't even have the serial killer part down. But who knows, maybe it will be worth watching still, but I highly doubt :/ Do you find this valuable? |

"Well that kinda sucks, you didn't even get to see Dexters reaction when he first held his son?"I think we might see his reaction, in flash-back. I reckon we'll get a brief montage of what's happened in the six-months beforehand, including the birth in that. After all, they really don't need to show a lot of the birth, just Dexter's reaction, and that need only take up 10 seconds or so. So it's perfect montage territory. "We want a montage! Even Rocky had a montage!" *cue Team America World Police* Do you find this valuable? |

Maybe so.Still it's an odd thing to do, kind of how Family Guy had Bonnie pregnant for like 1-4 years, and then she has the kid. Oh well. As for Robin Williams in 1 hour Photo, and in Insomnia, he was great. I liked him in those movies. I prefer thriller/horror instead of family man movies. Hope Lithgow still has it. Yes, we need a montage! To go from a beginner to a pro, we need a montage! Do you find this valuable? |

No one remembers Lithgow in Cliffhanger? (probably a good thing...)I think he would be perfect for the role. An older character to play a more experienced serial killer than Dex, and Lithgow can pull that "something ain't right with this guy" look in his eyes perfect. OR... the info could have been leaked intentionally to throw everyone off. (Doakes appears out of nowhere "Surprise mutha fuc*a!!") Do you find this valuable? |

I'd like to see Dex more "evil" in this season. The whole "going to be a father" persona left season 3 watered down in my opinion.

"I'd like to see Dex more "evil" in this season. The whole "going to be a father" persona left season 3 watered down in my opinion."I don't think Dex is any more or less evil than he used to be. His killling capacities haven't changed. The only real difference is that he didn't chainsaw anyone to death in season 3, but then again, he only ever reserved that for 'special' victims anyway. I agree with you that season 3 was watered down a bit, but it wasn't because of the father storyline. It was because there was too much other stuff going on, which we didn't care about, and ended up coming to nothing (the Quinn/IA stuff, even most of the Prados stuff). It's like, each season Dex asks a question. In season 1 it was "where have I come from?". In season 2 it was "am I good or am I evil?". In season 3 it was "am I human?". And that was always going to be a tougher question to answer and pull off dramatically, especially midpoint of a five-season storyline where they didn't want to be giving too much away too early. I just thought season 3 tried to be too ambitious, and just didn't quite pull it off. A few things just weren't quite right. Do you find this valuable? |

" And that was always going to be a tougher question to answer and pull off dramatically, especially midpoint of a five-season storyline where they didn't want to be giving too much away too early.Well you phrased it better than I could lol but that was essentially what I was getting at. Maybe in hind sight the season will fit in the series as a whole. It seemed as though there was too much focus on keeping the fans guessing, yet the way they closed several parts of the season was almost too simple\predictable. Anyway, I don't mean to complain about season 3. Disappointing but still great in parts. Do you find this valuable? |

"The problem I have isn't directly with Lithgow, but the long time he spent in comedy.I know what you mean about him having his comedic history. But he started out as an evil person at least when I first noticed him, his roles or charcters were a sort of muddled, wierd person, that went from sort of withdrawn person to a unhinged type of person. Then he was in movies like Blow Out and Cliffhanger ( I think is the name - The one with Stallone - where he was climbing and the bad guy Lithgow had a bomb at the top of the mountain) Any way John Lithgow is a good actor, He has the ability to swing from the docile sort of person to a wierd sort of muddled person to pure Evil. I think he is so convincing that It scares me when they do the close up of his eyes in the evil phase. There is no doubt that we will be having night mares after this season. (LOL kidding) I think he has the ability to pull off an incredible mad man. Maybe even the most disterbed person we have seen so far on Dexter. I can not wait...... Do you find this valuable? |

"I really hope she doesnt have the kid, it will ruin the show, and I'll probably stop watching"Well they muffed that up by allowing her to get Prego... I do not see how thay can keep the baby in for another season. I agree though they should not have allowed Rita to become pregnant. I can not see how that will ever enhance the show. But I guess the writers have a plan. I can not see it though. My input is not really important though I do understand. But I am a loyal fan and I will go with what ever thay throw at me. Unless they turn it into an Old ladies type of soap opera. Do you find this valuable? |
