"If Season 4 ends in a disaster, say Rita and the 3 kids are killed, then S5 could be a "Dexter Goes Bonkers" season with mistakes and eventually leading to him being caught or maybe getting killed. Dexter has shown us that he can be provoked.Yes. I'm still not sure that they'd do this though. Getting rid or Rita and/or the kids would mean one fewer disguise for Dexter to wear, and his hiding from his family is one of the major storylines of the show. Also it would take a lot of the lightness out of the show and turn it into something far darker. Which is certainly possible - but is that what the producers want it to be? There is still something that gets me about the whole idea of the Trinity killer this season though. I can't help but think that his killing in threes is significant. But maybe that's just what they WANT us to think? Do you find this valuable? |

"Yes.It was just a thought based on Dexter coming full circle. He has evolved and matured and followed the code. When he doesn't follow the code he gets in trouble. If Dexter were to lose his family and the cover they bring him then maybe he would not be so careful and we could see the Dark side of Dexter more completely. Especially if he was on a mission to get who ever took the family out. The series could wrap up with Dexter dying or ?????? but having it lead to that through many episodes. It would be like any other person losing their family and then having issues except in Dexter’s case he could turn in to a loose cannon. The writers obviously have a lot of choices to pick from to end the series. This was just a thought. Do you find this valuable? |

Something would have to trigger that to happen though, and I think the loss of the family could be it. But still, as I said before, it would be changing the entire complexion of the show (as would having him in jail for half a season, or whatever). But I do wonder sometimes just how much can be sustained of the show while they stick with the setting of Dexter maintaining his secret and continuing to kill happily with nobody finiding out (or him disposing of them when they do). There's only so many storylines they can do without getting repetitive and/or unbelievable (and to be honest, having another serial killer in season 4 IS a bit repetitive). You're right though - there are many different paths they can go in season 4 and 5 and this is just one of them. I can't wait to find out! Do you find this valuable? |

cheers guys for talking about the prison idea.i see what your saying about full circle.i hope dex gets a proper ending and its not left open. i love the final episode of six feet under wraps it all up nicely.least prison can leave an end were he is looking around then you just see a big grin on his face. if he dies the most fitting death would be him in a kill room by someone like him with simler rules . but he will never take on another aprentice id just hate to see him go out like a chump (darth maul style) Do you find this valuable? |

"There is still something that gets me about the whole idea of the Trinity killer this season though. I can't help but think that his killing in threes is significant. But maybe that's just what they WANT us to think?"I think the killing in threes is significant to the killer, but I love how they bring in each killer's own psychopathy into their personal ritual. Trinity is completely different people between the murders that we witness; in one he relives a traumatic experience, in another he exercises complete psychological control, in another he completely shifts gears on his victim, as though he's revealing himself only at the moment of the kill. So, yes, there is a deeper meaning behind the three, but each killer's ritual is a personal expression of whatever event, memory, or emotion made them become killers in the first place. In my mind, it's one of the most fascinating strings in the show. Do you find this valuable? |
