It seems like she sleeps around a lot only because the main character is not really a sexual guy. Compared to other HBO and SHOWTIME shows, there's a lot less sex. Dexter's not very interested in it so anyone else having sex seems like a slut. But not really. Deb has had maybe 4 or 5 partners in 3 years. She doesn't make smart choices but I wouldn't call her slutty. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

You make a good point zahmerica and I apologize to any and all Jennifer Carpenter fans I have offended or angered. In order there have been Rudy (aka Brian) Gabriel, Lundy and Anton. Four guys in three seasons? That is low for a cable show!

Then there is her brother Dexter who has Rita and the real ho, lilla. Glad that bimbo is gone but I still wonder what happened to her body! Dexter put it in a suitcase but then what?

Back in the late 60's, Charlotte Whitten, the then mayor of Ottawa, when asked about how difficult it was for a woman to succeed in a "man's world", replied:

"For a woman to be thought of as being as good as a man, she has to work twice as hard.....fortunately, this is not difficult!"

Deb is trying to be a quintessential cop. She appears to be "dealing" with her feminine side in a relatively masculine way....not too surprising given her immersion into the "guy's world" of homicide cops.

That she sink to their depths or rise to their heights should be viewed on the merit (or lack of same) of each activity. We all have our crosses to bear but some of us are willing to share.

You are correct Sueezedtight and now I suppose I should apologize to any bimbos I have insulted by comparing them to lila!

As far as I'm concerned, you don't have to apologize to anyone. You stated your opinion. And as far as other people's opinions go, you know what they say about opinions...they are like as*holes, everybody has one and everyone thinks that theirs doesn't stink! lol ; )
Lila was beyond bimbo, I have a word for her that I don't use but it starts with a C!

It was a joke, the only things left to compare lila to are vampires and skeletons. Come on everyone, time for a cyber group hug for Dexter! Everyone lean towards your monitors now...and hug them! Not too tight, you don't want to break anything. :-)

I like it! Lila the anorexic vampire. Very "au jour" considering.

Does that mean she will be back next season? ;-)

I don't think Deb is a ho. But after rewatching S3, I'm starting to get sick of her annual romantic endeavors. She has one every season... and the Anton one was feeling like "One Tree Hill" after awhile. Not to mention that she's always getting involved with an unusually risky/controversial person... killer, boss, and victim? I'd like to see her date a Verizon rep or something. Very low risk there :) Do you find this valuable?

Hahaha....yeah, but it would get pretty annoying hearing "can you hear me now?" every time she picked up the phone. ; )

Well Deb did describe lila as "pale like a fuckin' corpse" so that fits! She can't come back she is dead! If they want to bring her ghost back they can only do it on one condition: they bring Doakes' ghost back to beat her up! Eventually she will stay in hell.

"Give me a break, Lundy as a boyfriend? He must be at least 60, whereas Debra is what, 25? Is there anyone she won't sleep with? She has slept with a serial killer, a drug addict, a police informant, after that I lose count. I bet she has done the entire precinct."
That is a very unfair statement. She is not married and she does not sleep with more than one at a time. I like Debra. So what if Lundy is much older than Debra. I once dated a much older guy. I guess I am bad. LOL!!!

"*sighs*

After your previous intelligent posts, I had expected more of you than resorting to cheap insults.

So in the series she's slept with like, 5 guys in 3 seasons? And that makes her a "ho"???

At least she didn't attempt to pick up a hooker, unlike Angel.

At least in each of the cases she was actually looking for someone to love her and look after her, not just casual sex (again, unlike Angel).

Every guy she's been with - except possibly Gabe, the gym guy, because she never really gave him a chance - she's jumped in head-over-heels emotional thinking he's the one.

As for Lundy, it was totally understandable she went for him. Lots of women go for father figures. And when you consider that Deb had little love from her own father and was still traumatised about nearly being killed by a serial killer, what could be more attractive than a guy who can look after her and protect her from serial killers?

Plus - Keith Carradine is hot for his age. I'd do him. "
I agree with your post but not quite the part of dating Lundy because he was father figure. I won't speak for Debra but not all young women date older men because they are father figures. A lot of them are very attractive and appealing to the young women. I sure don't think Monica had an affair with Bill Clinton because he was father figure. Bill Clinton was very handsome back then. I know that is nothing to do with the show but that is just an example.

When I was in my early 20s, I dated a man who was over 55 who was very debonair and very handsome. We are not together anymore and no regrets, just old friends. We were alike in many way. Maybe too much alike. LOL!!! He is now a very old man and very very wealthy and not in good health but I don't regret being with him at one time nor do I regret not being with him now.

You made other good points though.
