clairebbbear	Episode 4.01 Living the Dream (MAJOR SPOILERS) Aug 19 2009, 12:22 PM EDT THERE WILL BE SPOILERS HERE SO DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW. Ok - who's seen it? And who wants to talk about it? I've just got to say - wow! As good as the first episode of season 2. Funny and scary and stylish all at the same time. So many good things to say. But I'll start with the main thing that's stuck in my mind - Dexter should be dead. That accident didn't look survivable to me. But no doubt he's going to have a bandaged head and that's that. LIthgow is beyond awesome. I can't even imagine him as that funny guy now. Ugggghhh. Funny sex scenes too. Oh god. Brilliant. But how are we going to bear the six-week wait for episode 2? I also like the fact that the sex scene was pretty much left to the imagination, but still funny. Vinnie was in rare form! I kinda feel guilty writing this stuff like I'm gonna spoil it for everyone. I think it makes sense for the characters, but I'm just not sure where the show can go with this. The whole plotline, I'm guessing, is going to be about whether they can keep their relationship secret. It would be more interesting if Maria has to make a decision against Angel but doesn't because of her relationship with him. Or maybe IA finds out and threatens disciplinary action (I'm guessing that police aren't allowed to have relationships with each other, but I could be wrong). We've already seen how protective she was with Doakes and Miguel. I'm sure that they are discouraged from dating within the workforce, but lets get real, a lot of relationships start there. I don't know if they take any kind of disciplinary action or not. I know somebody that works at a police station. I will ask them what their rules are. But, Lundy was going to make his and Deb's relationship known, so maybe they don't enforce anything. Vince is going to catch on pretty quickly I think, and once he knows then everyone is gonna know! I found the relationship w/Angel and Leguarda kinda boring anyways, but they'll spice it up with exactly that..Her making the wrong decision about a work issue, probably about Trinity, and Lundy already knows she did the same thing w/Doakes, but he's not in the F.B.I. anymore so I dont know what he can do about it..? Actually, given that losing Ellen and finding out that her close friend Miguel was responsible, I wouldn't have been surprised if Maria had turned to drink. So then her and Angel's relationship could have been based their mutual alcoholism LOL. Maybe this is a version of that in a way. Unlike when she slept with Esme's fiance, there's no ulterior motive for her sleeping with Angel - she's just doing it because she wants a f***buddy, like she realises she needs the support and the physical side of it too. This could actually be a really bad decision career-wise, but she doesn't seem to care. Maybe if she's softening in that regard she's going to become a worse cop, or a better one. Who can say?. Bit of a giveaway that. There was also this pic, posted on one of the crew's twitter account, I think from episode 4.03. I think on the image of Dex on the left he has a dressing above his right eye - you can just see it. Dexter is too tired to enjoy his killings. Me thinks he's gonna start resenting the family for that. He's making all kinds of slips. It occured to me briefly that they might have some marital issues from that. I don't know if the neighbor might end up worming his way in. I don't know though. Time will tell. My hunches are usually wrong. I'm loving Rita this season too. I didn;t like her up Syl's butt like that last year. It's nice to see her interacting with her adorable kids. Deb is screwed again, I dont think she'll ever have a good love life, never liked Rita, just tolerate her acting,dont like sweet and sticky nonstop, hopefully she'll get a past(besides poor me) pretty soon. Marital problems should abound!! It would be like real life! No sleep, annoying voice, loud kids, I dont think Dex signed up for all that,how many couples have problems or split for less? " That particular twitpic was from @EFletcherSOC, who is a camera operator. I'm going to start a new thread with the details of the Dexter people who tweet. Not really sure where the Deb/Lundy thing is going. I don't think Lundy is persuing her any more, since he knows she is with someone else. And I'm not sure if Deb is going to be interested in him any more either. Her reactions were more "shit - this makes things complicated". But I do think Lunfy's presence will affect the relationship with Anton, because Lundy will remind her why she had doubts about Anton in the first place. I think Rita is sweet and sticky nonstop, in the marriage with Dexter, because he lets her be like that. He doesn't say no to her because he thinks that's what he's supposed to do. Dexter must find her attractive though. I mean - in that scene where she makes him have sex with her, he's completetely tired and uninterested, but it seems like he was able to rise to the occasion, so to speak. Pretty impressive for a guy who's not that interested in sex. So there must be something there. Apparently though, they are seeing a marriage counsellor in ep. 6. Aug 23 2009, 2:30 AM EDT I wanted to badly not to watch the episode and remain spoiler free, but deep down I knew I couldn't. I told myself that I needed to rewatch all of season three before I watched this episode, so I did just that in two days! Here are some initial impressions: So yeah, the episode was great. Perhaps its odd for me to say this, but I think part of the reason I liked it so much was because of how miserable Dexter's life was. It's almost like season one Dexter where he's now working hard again to maintain his "mask", and I like that. Boy, Trinity Killer (TK) is a MAJOR creeper! His two scenes were surprisingly dark and disturbing, even for this show. Yeah, the spunky, ambitious, won't-take-no-for-an-answer reporter who flirts with Quinn is already annoying the crap out of me. Can TK just kill her already? Lundy working on his own seems a little odd. The fact that he's working on this TK case solo because nobody else believes he exists makes him seem sort of like a conspiracy theory nut and really crazy (it's a good thing we know he's right). Masuka made me bust up a couple times this episode. From his hero worship of Lundy to his complete obliviousness of his being the third wheel to Angel and LaGuerta, he's always a highlight of the series. I'm gonna go ahead and guess that despite the title of the next episode, Dexter had already dumped the body. That would just be too ridiculous if he didn't. Aug 23 2009, 2:50 AM EDT \| Post edited: Aug 23 2009, 2:52 AM EDT Also, I'm probably not to the only one who noticed, but there were a lot of scenes from the season 4 trailer in this episode, but they used alternate takes in the episode. On the whole, I actually liked the takes from the trailer from than in the episode. And what about in the trailer when he's killing Benny and talking to him about "having it all"? Dex was really opening up there and showing some range and in the actual episode they cut that out entirely. Little Astor is getting some major attitude. This story seems like it could have some legs. It's hard to believe it was just three seasons ago that she was being "flown" around by Dexter and having splinters removed from her fingers. Our little girl is growing up so fast... Could Quinn possibly maybe become a new Doakes figure of sorts for Dexter? He was pretty confrontational to him this episode. And who calls "The Daily Show" "Jon Stewart"? Anton asked Deb to TiVo "Jon Stewart" for him. Was this the writer's weird way of giving a shout-out to him? Not necessary. Now I'm wondering if there is going to be a complete absence of Syl this season. Overnight she became Rita's BFF last season and with not as much as a mention of her this episode, I wonder if the show will act like the Prado's never happened. Post reply Do you find this valuable?

Just watched this episode and am very pleased, expecially since season 3 was fairly weak with way too much filler. This one was much more tightly written. The return of Lundy bodes well, as he added a lot in season 2. No way the body is still in the car. Back hatch was open during the crash, another reason to think body was already gone.
