Intro to Season 5 - my thoughts

We are loving the evolution of the show and have said since about espidoe 3 of this season that Rita had to go. They made her too normal. She was suffocating Dexter. We first predicted a divorce (and then we had the scene with kisssing the neghbor). Then tonight when he kept stressing for Rita to go the Keys and Trinity disappeared from the van we started thinking he might have gone to their home to either threaten Dexter upon his return or actually kill Rita as retailation. It was very poetic to come full circle. We feel the intro to season 5 will be: the police will determine Dexter was Trinity's target after Trinity came to the station because he was linked to Deb who was lead investigator and was shot by and linked to Christine and her suicide and they will find Trinity's fingerpirnts at Deb's (Dexter's) apartment and the police will surmise he went to kill Dexter but did Rita after unsuccessfuly ambushing Deb for retaliation, Deb will feel Dexter is traumatized enough and will withold her detailed knowledge of his own mother's murder and adoption circumstances until late in the new season but never suspect him of anything; and Rita's kids includng Harrision will live with the grandparents (that took the older kids to Disney) thus letting Dexter's dark passenger bloom in full to somehow avenge Rita and getting him back to his twisted universe with minimal family involvment.

I agree in the respect that I think all that has happened to Dexter will alleviate a lot of the pressure of suspicion he has been burdened with the past season. No one is going to want to bug Dexter after his wife has been murdered giving him a lot of opportunity to freely feed his dark passenger.

"I agree in the respect that I think all that has happened to Dexter will alleviate a lot of the pressure of suspicion he has been burdened with the past season. No one is going to want to bug Dexter after his wife has been murdered giving him a lot of opportunity to freely feed his dark passenger. "I disagree. Maybe initally Dexter will have more freedom - with the kids spending time at their grandparents home.. leaving an extremly motivated and enraged Dexter to kill. BUT Dexter in Trinity's garage, Arthur coming to the station, Debra knowing about Brain being Dexter's brother.. there's too much weird stuff going on for Quinn and/or Debra not to pry into it eventually. PLUS, WE and DEXTER know Trinity killed Rita, but he could have staged it so it looked like a suicide.. something Dexter could have also done in someone from Miami Metro's mind. If it was made to look like a murder, suspect #1 is ALWAYS the husband. Dexter won't tell anyone it was TK because then he would also have to tell them about his investigation. The Mitchell family would tell the cops all about "Kyle Butler". Someone will be watching Dexter very closely in Season 5.. for one reason or another. I predict Dex will kill someone else from Miami Metro, ala Doakes (probably the nosey Quinn... but maybe Batista or Masuka were trying to be a friend and saw something they shouldn't have seen by accident and ultimetly pay the price). If there is a new serial killer introduced in Season 5 (and Dex makes it look like the new killer killed his comrad), Debra will wonder why all these killers find their way to Miami Metro.. maybe starting to link it to Dexter. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. " Debra will wonder why all these killers find their way to Miami Metro.. maybe starting to link it to Dexter."perhaps - but he is her hero so "love is blind" and she will refuse to see it - at least for a while. I do see Quinn in a "Dokes" scenario -maybe another trip to the everglades is upcoming........... Anyway - we can speculate on a number of things - I am just glad they found a way to make Dexter complicated again and not complicit / let the killings commence..... 2 out of 2 found this valuable. "BUT Dexter in Trinity's garage, Arthur coming to the station, Debra knowing about Brain being Dexter's brother.. there's too much weird stuff going on for Quinn and/or Debra not to pry into it eventually. But these are tangents that lead back to Deb not Dexter: she was not that surprised to see Dex show up at Arthur's for the raid - afterall the call goes out to everyone in the precint; and since Trinity and Christine are linked and Deb was tracking Christine and was with her when she shot herself (they may think Arthur came looking for her for revenge - not Dex) that link goes back to Deb; then Dex feinged ignorance about 'brother' Brian (Ice Truck Killer) leaving the only real link again to Deb as the psycho's girlfriend from the public view; and Quin knows that Dex knows that Quinn is a dirty cop - if he pushes too hard Dex will expose him (could be a push that pushes back) but Quinn is about selfpreservation - so I do not think he will push Dexter's buttons yet but he may and then he will be gator bait (and I think a romance with Deb and Quinn is not likely because of Christine's suicide - too messy and complicated - Deb will be looking for sympathy - not scrutiny and I think she is too wounded from the loss of Lundy and won't date out of the office again - no more cops for her) 3 out of 3 found this valuable. kill everyone or off himself????.... ambitous....I do think going into hiding is likely, maybe a change in venue to "heal" after losing Rita - makes a good cover... maybe Tampa??? interesting (I hope we get another 5 seasons too...) Do you find this valuable? |

I am at a loss here . Dexter from season one has always been about that duality , but with Rita's death they have destroyed that . My only guess is that they are shaping up season 5 to be the end . Dexter's last statement would suggest as such too . I love this show it's by far my favorite piece of media from that last decade and part of that is because it's total left field take , but I would be lying if I said that after four years of watching and caring for these characters that I didn't want to see Dexter try to leave his dark passenger behind and try for a normal life . I'm saddened by Rita's death not because she was a favorite character because she wasn't but because of what she represented in the show .... hope . Now that has passed and I believe so to soon shall our favorite serial killer too . Because this is probably the death of whatever was left of Dexter morgan the human and the full release of the dark passenger ... Good for ratings and to pandering of an audience who want's a mindless killing spree , but to the core of this shows literary mechanics .... well I guess that will lay at the bottom of the atlantic as well . Not sure and disappointed . 6 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

"i think more truth about his dad is gonna come out and why he taught dex to be like he is. then dexter will realize he is beocoming his dad and do the same thing he did and teach his son and kill himself"maybe to his dismay Dex will become the next "Harry" and Harrison will be the new "Dexter" - but Dex will never kill himself. Dexter might have to kill his own son because of the "code" once he finds out little Harrison is just as twisted as he is and he cannot prevent him from killing - he will not want him to endure what he has - Dex is still conflicted about himsel and I thnk it will get worse as his son gets older. Ultimately the only way to protect his son is to put an end to him - that would be gruesome - but we learned this season that Dex cannot stray from the code so he will reinforce it going forward.. 0 out of 2 found this valuable. I think everyone is dismissing that Cody and Astor are going to get written off the show. He has been a part of their lives for a few years now, and was moved in with them for the last 6 months even before the season started (from harrisons birth to his present age)There are soo many story lines that can be played out with the children. We already saw Cody fight once to defend Dexter's honor, he could snap after his mother's death. I just don't see them getting conveniently written out, I think everyone in Dexter's life would find it odd that he wasn't fighting for the children. I see some kind of dual custody where he has them for some time, but they go away from time to time thus giving him freedom to kill. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

How are they going to deal with explaining Rita's death to the police? Supposedly the Trinity Killer did not know Dexter. Quite a coincidence that as he leaves town he kills Rita, wouldn't you say?

"I think everyone is dismissing that Cody and Astor are going to get written off the show. "Dex is not emotional enough to put them first - pity is a contrived display for others - but Cody wanting revenge for his mom's murder could be a storyline - though it will take a few years to manifest to Dexter's level - we first saw his manifestations when he was in junior high. What if TK didn't kill Rita - what about Elliot? Could she have found out something (about Dexter) that would drive her to commit suicide....

I think Dex will be the prime suspect in Rita's murder. He is the husband afterall and will be the first one suspected. Where was he all day? Where has he been going these last few weeks? How will he explain knowing Trinity's family? They will cross paths sometime soon at the station. He would need to create a long story line in just a few minutes before the police arrive at his house. He can not afford any slip ups. He has already been too loose with the code.4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

If Dex doesn't play every move just right he will bring suspicion on himself.
