Doakes vs. Dexteer
Sep 22 2007, 2:32 PM EDT
Anybody remember the specifics for Doakes' obsession with Dex? I watched the entire season and know that Doakes has always been leery of him but I can't remember what tipped Doakes to start stalking Dex and it is driving me nuts! Any contributions to helping me retain my sanity would be much appreciated...lol

When Dexter seemed to express no emotion toward his sister's disappearance and capture would be my guess. The fact that he also seemed to have information on the ITK and not sharing it (perhaps actually wanting the guy to get away even!) would be a safe bet on what pushed him over. In either case, it definitely started immediately after Dexter said he ran a blood test on a hunch about "Rudy" without sharing said hunch.

I've oft thought it may be entirely possible that Doakes is just as dark, in a dif kind of way, and that he is simply pissed that Dex has (in past episodes anyway! lol) the nads to do to the "bad guys" what he would like to do...??? Wasn't Doakes special ops? They are trained to kill the bad guys after all aren't they? hmmmmm... just thinking out loud.

remember, doakes has the same knack for killing bad people, as he showed when he killed that hatian he remembered from his time in special ops.I think 1. doakes has a crush on deb, as shown with his occasional looks, and how, before rudy showed up with flowers he was asking deb to come see his family again (almost in a first date like way) 2. doakes does indeed have a dark side, and could see, upon learning dexters secret, may want to help/assist or at the very least, keep it quiet. Or it may just be an unspoken agreement where after a new person disapears, doaks just gives dex a look, which dex returns. Do you find this valuable? |

1) I think you're right on the Deb thing-his family loved her and he acted annoyed, though I think it actually pleased him greatly...2) I'm more convinced than ever Dex will have to have help covering his tracks; Doakes? Angel possibly? I'm beginning to believe Doakes will have to save the day for Dex. Capping the Haitian may have spoken volumes-he does break the rules when it suits him, and didn't Angel help cover that nasty little affair up? The plot continues to thicken...LOL Do you find this valuable? |

Odd that you would say that- I figure they'll find the large gang enforcer dead in an alley, courtesy of Doakes!! We all know he wasn't really MIA...Luv your thinking ITK...I just so totally dig this ya all!! I was a little concerned, thinking this may be an unhealthy obsession in my twisted lil' mind; but it seems I'm not the only one with Dexter OCD!! lol Thanks and keep the ideas comin'!

Let's review - Doakes finds Dexter at the murder site he was discovered at, and Doakes thinks he's connected to the Ice Truck Killer. Doakes and Dex fight and Dex proves to be moe than just a lab geek. Then Dex shows up before anyone at the house where Deb is being held by ITK. Doakes knows something is wrong here. Now, Doakes has Dexter's blood slides. Does he get to do anything with them, or does Dex find them gone when he gets home with Jimenez's blood and realize who has to have them? I can't think of any other way to put Lundy off the trail and get rid of Doakes for good - Dexter has to kill him, or he'll kill Dexter. He won't take a chance on Dex getting away. It will be kill or be killed. Do you find this valuable? |

Strike that. Upon review of the previews for next week, I think Doakes gives the slides to his contact who turns out to be an FBI informant. Lundy calls Dex in specifically because he's the blood guy, he like his work and he's dating his sister. Dexter won't realize he's not a suspect until they tell him about the box of slides. At least that's the story I'm playing in my head. I can't handle the idea of Dex being a suspect. I'm going to be really mad if they connect those slides to him. Do you find this valuable? |

In one of the earlier episodes, Doakes and Dexter were in a car on a bridge. Doakes got out, chased someone on a bridge and shot the guy. When the police were investigating this incident, Dexter said that the blood pattern indicated that the victim didn't have a chance to shoot first. Even since then, Doakes has had it in for Dexgter.

That did go unexplored. Dex could use that to go back into Doakes' past. I'm sure there's some shady stuff - maybe Dex will get access to FBI files and get some dirt on Doakes that will either implicate him as BHB or give Dex justification to kill him under Harry's code. I don't think the writer's dare have Dex violate Harry's code. Do you find this valuable? |

damn kids, this season just gets better & better doesn't it? thus far, nearly every theory i've thrown out there has been blasted, but here goes...i do think he goes ahead with the set up; he has to to survive. as 4 the particulars, i am honestly stumped. i can't imagine him killing Doakes, but how can he not make him disappear permanently?

It's nothing I can figure out - once he let Doakes out of that water alive, we were beyond my ken. I don't know what the hell he's thinking.

Crazy isn't it? He has everything falling in line 2 set Doakes up perfectly; I can't get this nagging scenario outta my mind; could he possibly get so far into Doakes' head that he somehow convinces him to commit suicide? I just don't see Dex doing it (the code) That seems like a stretch, or maybe Doakes inadvertantly mortally wounds himself trying to escape the cage....i guess we'll see! Sure is maddening trying 2 figure it out though...lol

No, Doakes won't kill himself -- I'm pretty sure of that. He wants to take Dexter down too badly. Our best bet may be a shoot-out with the police.

"or just get his fingerprints on the killing tools and main him and ship him to Haiti"He's apparently going to get Doakes' fingerprints on the kill tools, but I can't imagine how that's going to happen. Do you find this valuable? |
