"I think Doakes was at Dex's and found the slides. Remember LaGuerta apologizing for Doakes not arriving at the dinner for a new job for him yet and he got so mad about the bloodwork he would'nt even stay and talk to Lundy? If you look at Doakes performance at work and all he's done lately, not knowing anything about Dexter, I know I would be thinking Doakes is the man. Perfect killer background and everything.
Also, the slides. There's hardly a seriel killer that does'nt keep some keepsake of thier crime. With Doakes in possesion of them, who's to say thier not his? Now I got to go watch the next weeks trailers, and then my opinions may all change? but Doakes going down for being the butcher is the only way I see out for Dex.
"
Doakes has the slides as we saw in episode 8 and in the previews for episode 9. I'd be amazed if Dex's fingerprints werent all over them.

"dex just set doaks up to br a suspect up for the butcher extreme cop loosing control he fits lundys profile"
that's exactly my thoughts.
i also have wondered what's going to happen with the slides Doakes found in Dex's apartment. right now, Doakes knows he has something, but he doesnt know what.
could we possibly see a situation where Lila burns down Dex's place and the slides are lost?

"Any ideas about the title of this episode? They're usually pretty straight forward, but I'm not getting this one."

Morgaine, i haven't read "where the wild things are" for a long time, but if sendak refers to the "that night, a forest grew" then he was channelling old russian fairy tales (there are several) where the heroes escaped from the witch by throwing down some normal household seeming items which turn into a thicket that the witch couldn't get through to follow them.

in this case, the forest that grew was supposed to be the presto manifesto, which dexter intended to grow so many tangled threads for the police to follow that they would obscure his path.

Dex wasn't able to hide behind the screen the manifesto cast for long, because lundy deduced that it meant that someone knew how they operated and narrowed the search to law enforcement folk.

Post 49! Probably a wasted effort (several months late too!!), but I can't believe everyone loves Dexter with Rita! She is such a dull personality; don't get me wrong, I cannot stand Lila either. I suppose Dexters immense personality needs curtailing by the "perfect" and normal family - to make him clean. That said, I would not see anything in Rita if I were Dex! Same goes for Lundy - what a great man/character - so what the hell would he see in someone as annoyingly transparent as Debs! She had the perfect partner at the gym - 2 air heads together. Lundy is far too good a catch for her! He's obviously now deluded because of the pain he has suffered losing his true love that "you only get once". I hope he comes to his senses.

My last series watched was the Wire and although there is a charm to Dexter, it simple cannot compete, esp in terms of character formation and development. Michael C Hall is a fantastic actor however and the show is all his.

Don't worry, this wasn't a wasted post.

Have you seen season three? You may change your mind about the series (or Lila) after having completed the series to date.

Zizzy wow! I'm glad I bothered to add to the thread.

I have been watching season 2 this week (currently on ep 11). Much like the Wire, I have been watching 3-4 episodes back to back out of "addiction". I'm trying to come to terms (just like with the wire) on which seasons I prefer. It's probably pointless and irrelevant, but bugs me. I think I liked season 1 - truly loved the way Brian was developed and really liked him as a character, but I did not get the obsession to keep watching hours at a time (the compulsion is worrying!!).

I'm finding too much on my plate with Dexter :p just finished him allude to killing his father, who walked in on the monster he created, causing his suicide. More brilliant writing from these guys (and quite insulting you guys not trusting them on here! :p), I really like the way the series are going - you can't have the same Dexter throughout - humans are extremely volatile/emotional/changeable creatures and I like the way they have shown this, even (esp!) in Dexter.

I don't like Lila as a character, more, I think, because of her acting - I'm just not won over by it. Michael C Hall is too far/head and shoulders above the rest unfortunately. Call me sexist, but female characters never really do it - even the wire kept them to a minimum and Greggs was a lesbian anyway!

It is a shame that I know Dexter runs way beyond season 2, because obviously you realise he doesn't get caught. I do love the development with Doakes though and how he boiled it down to who was of more inherent importance.

ok - need to finish these last 2 episodes of season 2! :p Can't believe I'll have spent half a day watching TV!!!! :-s

Cheers for the reply

Don't worry, there is no better way to spend a day than to be watching Dexter.

I never watched the Wire but every critic everywhere seems to think it's the greatest show that was ever made. I'm too much of a Dexter fan boy to admit that there may be a show out there that's better than Dexter.

And personally, season two was my least favorite season so far (nothing can ever be better than season one) and I'm interested to see what you think. Season four's looking real good too. September can't come soon enough.
