"I will have to think about that. I just took a pill, and have lay down now.Thought about it yet? I think she'll hold it against Dexter, but it will make her let go of the idea of him attending NA. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Ok, cool.I don't think that Rita will blame Dex as technically it was RITA who brought Lila into their lives when she insisted that Dex attend the drug program. It wasn't necessarily up to him who his sponsor would be. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Lila didn't exactly follow the prescribed ethics for sponsors, though, and Dex let it go that far. His only defense is the Ross Geller "we were on a break" line because he didn't sleep with Lila until Rita had broken up with him.

"Thought about it yet? But it shows that she reacts to things in an explosive manner with out thought. If she thought about it at all she would see that she pushed Dexter into recovery, and Rita dumped Dexter so he thought he was a free agent and Lila was more appealing at the time of the affair. Rita will take him back - But they should establish some ground rules when it comes to communication. She is too quick to fly off the handle, then she calms down and things are ok. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Yeah, but Dex had no idea what to expect from a sponsor because he was new to the meetings. Lila crossed the line. Dex resisted Lila's obvious flirtation/temptation a couple of times before he broke up with Rita. And, as you wrote, he didn't cross the line with Lila until after Rita stormed out in an apparent breakup. I've wondered if it would make a difference to Rita if he told her that, but I think not. She'll wonder how he could go to another woman so soon after they broke up IF he truly had deep feelings for her... 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I don't think you have to be an NA veteran to know it's unethical for a sponsor to sleep with a newbie. I do think it would make a difference to Rita - Dexter was acting out partially because he was mad at Lila and upset about Rita. Dexter's best bet is to avoid the subject altogether. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I don't think that Rita will blame Dex as technically it was RITA who brought Lila into their lives when she insisted that Dex attend the drug program. It wasn't necessarily up to him who his sponsor would be."Ordinaryfools NJ - When someone goes into a recovery program it is up to them to pick thier own sponsor. The person looking for a sponsor should listen to a lot of peoplep in the meetings, and see if they mesh so to speak. The need to find someone that they know will get them through the program. They can not have a sponsor that they do not get along with, this would put them in a spot that would cause frustration and send them back out to using again. Someone that is in recovery for the first time, believe it or not but most people go through recovery more than once. Addiction is an awful thing. It is easy for these people to find excuses to start using again. Addiction is this red headed monster that is all consuming - It ruins the person life and the people around them. Lila chose Dexter - Dexter had no real expectations. He thought he would go to a meeting and make Rita happy, he did not even know about chips etc. He thought he would go and then after a few meeting woould announce that he was cured. So Dex was at the mercy of Lila. He had no idea what to do. Again Rita pushed him right back into the clutches of Lila. So Rita is nieve also in thatsponsors are all kinds of people shapes sizes and sex, colors nationaities etc. If Rita was worried about Dex and Lila she should not have been so jealous from the start. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Rita's not the most secure person in the world, and Lila is pretty intimidating. Between her natural apprehensions and her mother's interference, I think Rita's reactions were pretty normal. The one most at fault is really Lila.

"In the end, they both found that in fact they have a satisfactory relationship - both in and out of bed. Even though she doesn't have the same passion for him that she did for Paul (as she hinted to Deb a couple of epis ago).I agree with your entire post, except for the part which I quoted. When Rita said: "Paul was so horrible to me. I mean really horrible. Sometimes - and don't tell Dexter - but I find myself missing the good parts of him." I never took her to mean that she missed the sex. A lot of people believe that's what she meant, but I feel that it's hard to miss sex with someone who has raped you. I thought that she meant that she missed the emotional aspect of Paul. On some level, I think Rita notices that Dexter is a little bit detached, and I believe that she misses feeling wanted or connected. We saw that Paul could be charming and likable when he wanted to be. I think that's why Deb connected with what Rita was saying because she replied with: "What he had to offer wasn't real, but how me made you feel about yourself. . .now that was real." But everything else you said rocked my socks. :) 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Wow ... an old thread brought back to life. In reading Morgaine's opening comment I noticed something that I had to disagree with: All Dexter feels is rage. I don't think so. He's very compassionate (to children and nice adults). I think his compelling emtion is "inadequacy" (insecurity ... in-something-or-other) ... particularly in the vulnerability of sex ... He is actually very emotional about his lack of emtions! LOL!

I know he has felt anger, and frustration. But Rage or at least blind rage I have not seen. I think some posting have been from what others may project in what they themselves would feel at that given second that they were watching in an episode. Do you find this valuable? |

"I don't agree that Dex' relationship with Rita is or ever has been "asexual." In the beginning, she wasn't ready to make a sexual commitment as she was still dealing with getting over Paul. Dex wasn't ready to make the sexual commitment because he was threated by how showing feelings or lack of them in the wrong arena, could possibly "out" him as being abnormal.yeah, I agree on the more with Rita's mom. I wonder if she will be back this comming season.. She could inspire a seriel killer in a kid. She is twisted. She was making her grandkids miserable. Do you find this valuable? |
